The Angerbach trout.

Sunset on the Grünsee.

The real fishing paradise in Carinthia.

It is one of the loveliest and most fascinating valleys in Austria: the valley of the river Gail, rich in trout, which is one of the best for fly-fishing enthusiasts.

The crystal-clear waters of the Gail, of the Valentin and Mühl streams (quality 1A) and of the artificial lake (Stausee) are home to a rich natural fish heritage, comprising brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling and char.

The course of the Gail, the gorge of the Valentin, wild and romantic, the Wiesenbach, or the ''stream that flows through the meadows", the blue-green waters of the Alpine lakes ... A real paradise, even for the most demanding angler!

Fly-fishing course - Preparing the fly,

In the fishing school adjoining the hotel, beginners are initiated to the "supreme art" of fly-fishing and the preparation of flies. And, in the evening, after a day’s adventures, among fishing rods and walks,
it is pleasant to meet and talk about fish, bait, rods and hooks on the terrace near your hotel room
or in the fishing cabin, on the banks of the Grünsee.

The gorge of the Gail.

33 km of unique waters for fly-fishing!

You begin from the wild and unspoilt gorge of the Gail. As far as the eye can see, there is no sign of civilization; everything has remained just as God created it: deep passages, narrow rocky parts, overhanging rocks, fantastic barriers of logs suddenly barring the course of the swift-flowing waters of the river, streams and torrents. Then suddenly, as it enters the Lesachtal, the valley opens up and the waters flow more placidly: between gentle loops, inviting gravel beaches, grassy banks, the Gail winds its way, like a silver ribbon, through the plain that bears its name: the Gailtal. And this is where the real pleasure of fishing begins. Easily accessible from all sides, these excellent fishing waters offer the possibility of quick sighing expeditions, even several times a day: the grayling are waiting for you!

The Valentin

The Valentin and its tributaries form another maze of waters. One of these, the 'Angerbach, springs from a source at an altitude of 1500 metres and, after having passed through vast Alpine pastures and woods, it flows into the rich waters of the Grünsee, of an incomparable dark green colour. The legendary "Angerbach trout", which lives in the ravines of the stream, is now ... aan open secret!
Its characteristics? An unusual variety of colours and a tendency to be difficult to "outwit".

The romantic Valentinsee, of an incredible turquoise-green colour, and the spectacular waterfall, more than 30 metres high, seem to have stepped right out of a fairytale. Pale grayling and large trout of many different species swim in the green waters that flow into the lake. The Valentin gorge - or Valentinklamm - cannot fail to charm you with its wild natural beauty. Here, an angling contest is transformed into a real "adventure", much more akin to canyoning, with all its dangers and treacherous spots, where you are not advised to venture alone: our guides, all of whom are skilled anglers, are at your disposal.
